Captain Eustace George Walter Bourke, King's Royal Rifles, who was killed in Belgium on June 16th, was the eldest son of Mr. Walter Bourke, of Monycrower, Maidenhead, and great-grandson of the 5th Earl of Mayo. He went to the front on August 12th, 1914. Was in command of the Machine Gun section of his battalion, and on October 26th he received a bullet wound in the foot and was sent home. Subsequently he was appointed Adjutant of the 6th (Reserve) Battalion of his Regiment, but at his urgent request he was transferred as Adjutant to the 9th (Service) Battalion, and on the 19th of that month he again proceeded to the front. He was killed within half-a-mile of the same place where he was previously wounded.
